Job Overview:

VKB Agriculture (Pty) Ltd, a prominent agricultural company with operations in the Northeast Free State and Limpopo, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee and coordinate all maintenance activities within VKB’s Engineering Services. This role is critical for ensuring that all facilities and equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and upgraded to guarantee smooth operations and long-term functionality. The Maintenance Manager will focus on preventative maintenance and lead a team of technicians to optimize productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance Strategy: Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
• Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they meet performance goals and receive necessary training.
• Scheduling & Coordination: Create maintenance schedules and coordinate activities to minimize disruption to daily operations.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Equipment Management: Oversee repair and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions to maintain optimal efficiency.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless operations and align maintenance with production or project schedules.
• Inventory & Supplier Management: Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and equipment, establishing relationships with suppliers for timely availability.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
• Inspections & Upgrades: Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential upgrades.
• Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance department’s budget, including cost forecasting and optimization.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and other relevant documentation.

Requirements:

• Educational Qualification: Relevant Technical Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in the Silo industry or FMCG sector.
• Technical Abilities: Strong analytical skills with experience in resolving plant breakdowns and handling challenging objectives.
• OHS Act Knowledge: Essential for ensuring all legal requirements are met.
• Spares Management: Experience in managing spares for engineering purposes.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and inspire a diverse team, aligning with VKB Group’s core values: Humble, Hungry, Smart, and Bold.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in plant maintenance programs, particularly Pragma.

• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of equipment maintenance, safety regulations, and compliance.
