**Introduction:**
Intercape, a leader in the transportation industry, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Regional Technical Manager to join our team in the Western Cape. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in mechanical parts and technical management.

**Duties & Responsibilities:**

**Staff Performance Management:**
– Provide constructive regular feedback and clear instructions to staff.
– Empower competent team members with adequate resources such as machines and tools.
– Support Technical Department goals and initiate performance appraisals for workshop personnel.
– Take disciplinary actions when necessary and ensure effective delegation.
– Provide immediate technical advice and information to operations.

**Technical Policies and Procedures:**
– Communicate and train staff on technical policies and procedures.
– Conduct regular evaluations to ensure compliance.
– Identify technical training needs and report to the National Technical Manager.
– Provide in-house development opportunities and monitor training objectives monthly.

**Budget and Equipment Management:**
– Accurately monitor the running cost of all vehicles and report monthly variances.
– Control the technical budget within set parameters and implement equipment replacement strategies.
– Ensure equipment meets quality and delivery requirements within budget constraints.

**Maintenance Program Management:**
– Plan and implement a preventative maintenance program by the due date.
– Communicate the maintenance program to relevant subordinates and monitor its execution.
– Ensure depot and commercial vehicle maintenance meets company standards.

**Technical Manpower Planning:**
– Establish staffing numbers according to depot workload and identify recruitment or reduction needs.
– Meet deadlines and control costs within the approved budget.
– Communicate frequently with all stakeholder groups.

**Strategic Implementation:**
– Complete and align the Technical Department’s strategic plan with the national business strategy.
– Research internal and external environmental factors and set challenging yet achievable objectives.
– Implement and monitor the strategy monthly, with a bi-annual review.

**Procurement Adherence:**
– Maintain prescribed stock levels and adhere to OE manufacturer specifications.
– Follow MOVE policies and procedures for procurement.

**Desired Experience & Qualifications:**

**Qualifications:**
– Trade Test Certificate

**Experience:**
– Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical parts and technical management.

**Knowledge / Abilities:**
– Proficient in general administration duties.
– Ability to work independently and manage a team.
– Provide exceptional customer service and proactive solutions.
– Research and manage legal risks related to new business projects.
– Thorough knowledge of the company’s divisions, products, services, and terms.
– Ability to produce high-quality work and take pride in your work.
– Excellent computer literacy and organizational skills.
