Position Overview
Airlink is seeking a Ramp Controller to join its Ground Operations team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all airport flight handling activities in accordance with the flight handling roster as scheduled and supervised by the Ramp Duty Manager.
This role requires a hands-on individual who thrives in a dynamic airport environment, ensuring that all ground handling processes are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Airlink’s operational standards.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate the handling of aircraft on the ramp according to the daily flight schedule.

Ensure safe and timely aircraft turnaround, including fueling, catering, and baggage handling operations.

Communicate and collaborate with the Ramp Duty Manager and ground handling teams.

Monitor adherence to airport safety regulations and Airlink’s operational procedures.

Report and resolve any operational irregularities or safety concerns immediately.

Ensure effective coordination between ground crew, flight crew, and operations control.

Support ramp staff in achieving on-time performance and safety targets.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent – Essential.

Diploma in Aviation, Ground Operations, or related field – Preferred.

Code 10 Driver’s License – Required.

1–2 years of relevant industry experience in ground handling or ramp operations.

Good understanding of airport safety, ground handling procedures, and operational protocols.

Excellent communication, coordination, and multitasking skills.
