Position Overview

Empact Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to oversee the Food Solutions unit in George, Western Cape. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational and financial management skills who can ensure high-quality food services, operational efficiency, and exceptional client experiences.

The successful candidate will manage daily operations, lead culinary teams, drive innovation in menu planning and event execution, and ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Manage daily unit operations in line with sector strategy, contractual obligations, and statutory requirements.

  • Oversee efficient and compliant food production processes.

  • Deliver high-quality food services to hospital and corporate clients.

  • Coordinate and manage creative events and functions.

Menu and Food Production Oversight

  • Lead menu planning, standardization, costing, and adoption processes.

  • Ensure kitchen teams adhere to standardized recipes and maintain consistent food quality.

  • Drive innovation while ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.

Financial and Administrative Control

  • Oversee daily bookkeeping, stock management, and banking.

  • Monitor gross profit margins to meet budget targets.

  • Maintain optimal stock levels and effective stock control practices.

  • Ensure proper use of the electronic meal ordering system.

Compliance and Governance

  • Maintain accurate health, safety, and environmental compliance records.

  • Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.

People Management

  • Lead workforce planning, payroll administration, performance management, and leave management.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Client and Service Excellence

  • Enhance customer experience through feedback-driven continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to client service level agreements (SLAs) for exceptional service delivery.


Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services, Hospitality, or Culinary Arts (preferred).

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in hospital catering (essential).

  • Proven experience in competitive and sensitive markets (mandatory).

  • Project management experience within hospitality or catering (advantageous).

  • Experience in implementing change programs and unit mobilization (beneficial).

  • Knowledge of brand guideline compliance and operational frameworks.

  • Financial management experience, including costing, budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing (advantageous).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage successful teams or departments.

  • Valid driver’s license required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of hospital catering environments.

  • Knowledge of South African laws and industry regulations.

  • Excellent customer service, operational, and financial management skills.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to plan and execute high-quality events.

  • Skilled in report writing, data analysis, and performance tracking.

  • Proven ability to optimize profit and drive operational efficiency.
