Position Overview
Empact Group is seeking a highly skilled Catering Manager to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen unit in Hermanus, Western Cape, within the healthcare sector. This role involves managing production processes, food and labour costs, menu planning, and ensuring compliance with HACCP and HSE standards.
The ideal candidate will have hospital catering experience, strong management skills, and the ability to operate within budget guidelines while delivering exceptional food service quality.
Key Responsibilities

Manage daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth workflow.

Implement and monitor production processes.

Manage food and labour costs to maintain profitability.

Ensure overall compliance with HACCP standards and hygiene regulations.

Develop, plan, and standardize menus according to client needs.

Lead and manage the kitchen brigade, fostering teamwork and accountability.

Oversee strategic and day-to-day operational activities.

Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.

Maintain exceptional customer service standards in all food delivery.
Minimum Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services or Culinary Arts.

Minimum of 3 years’ progressive kitchen management experience.

Proven ability to manage operations within budget guidelines.

Experience in high-volume, complex food service operations (highly desirable).

Hospital catering experience is compulsory.

Knowledge of special diets and nutrition requirements.

Strong understanding of HSE regulations (advantageous).

Computer literacy and familiarity with operational management systems.
