The Assistant Technician (Fire) role in Midrand provides an exciting opportunity for entry-level candidates to join a professional team, gaining hands-on experience in fire protection system installation, maintenance, and emergency response support.
Position Overview
The Assistant Technician (Fire) will work under the guidance of a Fire Technician or Fire Chief, assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems. The role requires a strong understanding of fire safety regulations, technical aptitude, and practical problem-solving skills.
Successful candidates will contribute to ensuring compliance with fire safety standards, supporting emergency operations, and maintaining efficient, fully operational fire protection systems across Fidelity client sites.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma / Matric

Previous experience in fire protection, technical maintenance, or related field preferred

Knowledge of fire safety regulations and procedures
Skills and Competencies

Technical skills to install, troubleshoot, and repair fire protection systems (alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers)

Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls when necessary

Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in challenging environments

Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems

Conduct routine inspections on fire safety equipment to ensure operational readiness

Respond to emergency calls and provide support during fire incidents

Follow all safety protocols and on-site guidelines

Assist in fire safety training sessions for staff, including evacuation and prevention procedures

Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs

Perform any other duties assigned by the Fire Technician or Fire Chief
