Position Overview
The Senior Maintenance Planner role is based at the Pretoria West Bakery and focuses on improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by implementing and managing effective asset management systems and maintenance procedures. The role ensures efficient work planning, preventive maintenance, and performance optimization for all production and engineering assets.
This position is ideal for experienced planners seeking a strategic and hands-on role in maintenance management within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities.

Review and manage work requests, analyze job requirements, and determine materials, equipment, and labour needs.

Develop weekly schedules and assist the Maintenance Engineering Manager in prioritizing maintenance tasks.

Maintain accurate CMMS software data files, ensuring completeness and standardization of equipment, task, and inventory codes.

Perform breakdown and lost opportunity analysis, interpreting maintenance history and KPIs for continuous improvement.

Identify and resolve repetitive equipment issues with the engineering team and recommend preventive or predictive maintenance adjustments.

Organize training for engineering personnel to improve asset management and operational efficiency.

Maintain drawing, documentation, and modification control for engineering and maintenance operations.

Optimize staffing levels using utilization and work backlog information to ensure efficient resource allocation.

Manage the engineering planning office, including tools, documents, and schedules.

Conduct daily and monthly meetings with plant key personnel to plan work, share information, and agree on action plans.

Assist in implementing and managing the Asset Management Improvement Program (AMIP), tracking maintenance initiatives and ensuring proper close-outs.
Minimum Requirements

Recognized trade test: Fitter & Turner or Electrician (Millwright or Dual Trade preferred).

N4 Technical Qualification (minimum).

2–3 years’ experience in asset and asset care management, including auditing.

Minimum 5 years’ supervision experience in a maintenance or engineering environment.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with essential experience on Pragma Onkey 5 (Onkey 5 Plus).

Knowledge of store inventory management systems and techniques.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
