Position Overview
The Creditors Controller will be based in Pietermaritzburg and is responsible for overseeing the creditors function, ensuring accurate reconciliations, timely payments, and compliance with internal controls. The role requires supervising creditors clerks and admin staff, managing cash flow, and maintaining the integrity of financial data in the JDE system.

Key Responsibilities
Creditors Control

Review creditor account reconciliations before payment runs.

Follow up and resolve long-standing supplier queries.

Identify creditor accounts requiring special attention.

Handle disputed accounts and maintain accurate performance statistics.

Maintain the creditor ledger and monthly reconciliation lists.
GRIR and Query Management
-
Perform monthly reviews of GRIR and query balances for suppliers.
-
Follow up on long outstanding items for reversal.
-
Review GRIR journals for write-offs on older balances.
-
Manage and resolve queries logged on the SharePoint system.
Payment Management
-
Review and block invoices/vendors for payment.
-
Facilitate daily and monthly payment runs.

Verify payments on the banking system and obtain approvals.

Resolve rejected payments efficiently.
Information and Data Management

Ensure accurate and timely data entry in JDE for reliable reporting.

Share financial data with management to support decision-making.
-
Maintain workflow for vendor updates in JDE.
Team Supervision and Development

Lead and mentor creditors clerks and admin staff.

Conduct performance appraisals and manage succession planning.
-
Schedule training to meet development requirements and legislative compliance.

Foster a high-performance team culture, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and governance compliance.

Manage leave, time management, and employee relations matters in line with company policy.
General Administration
-
Safeguard financial records and documentation.
-
Compile ad hoc reports, spreadsheets, and financial analysis as required.

Assist AP Accountant and Financial Accountant with special projects.
Minimum Requirements
-
3-year degree/diploma in accounting (preferred).
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in creditors control or accounts payable.

Experience with JDE (JD Edwards) preferred.

Strong understanding of financial reconciliation, cash flow management, and accounting controls.

Leadership experience in team supervision and performance management.
