Position Overview

The System Engineer plays a crucial role in managing and supporting Pedros’ server, cloud, and network environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and business continuity. This position requires advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, and M365 ecosystems, along with hands-on expertise in network and security management.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, proactively maintaining systems and infrastructure to ensure operational reliability across head office and store networks.


Key Responsibilities

Server & Cloud Administration

  • Configure, manage, and maintain Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Implement and monitor patch management policies across servers and endpoints.

  • Ensure high availability, uptime, and disaster recovery readiness.

  • Support IT infrastructure projects, upgrades, and migrations to enhance performance and scalability.

Network & Security Management

  • Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and switches to ensure network security.

  • Maintain and enforce Group Policies (GPOs) and endpoint protection controls.

  • Oversee antivirus platforms, threat detection, and response systems.

  • Monitor network health and resolve connectivity or security issues promptly.

RMM & System Monitoring

  • Manage Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools for proactive system oversight.

  • Generate infrastructure health, performance, and compliance reports.

  • Optimise alerting and escalation processes to ensure fast issue resolution.

Advanced Troubleshooting & Escalation

  • Act as the 3rd-line escalation point for technical issues from support teams.

  • Lead root-cause analysis and long-term remediation efforts for recurring incidents.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify system improvements and automation opportunities.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and system logs.

  • Ensure compliance with POPIA, PCI-DSS, and internal ICT governance standards.

  • Support IT audits by maintaining accurate security and operational records.

Continuous Improvement & Projects

  • Evaluate new technologies to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with IT leadership on strategic projects and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Standardise system management processes across head office and branch operations.


Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Minimum 4–5 years of experience in a System or Server Engineering role.

  • Proven experience with Windows Server, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 ecosystems.

  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.

  • Strong knowledge of firewall configuration, switching, VPN management, and RMM tools.

  • Expertise in patch management, GPO deployment, and endpoint protection.

  • Familiarity with IT service management systems, including ticketing and SLA adherence.
