Position Overview
Pedros is seeking a friendly, skilled, and enthusiastic Barista to join its dynamic team at the Newlands East Head Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving premium-quality coffee and beverages, maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, and ensuring every guest and team member enjoys a welcoming environment.
This role requires a passionate individual with attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a flair for hospitality. The Barista will support daily operations and contribute to the smooth functioning of the Facilities Department while representing Pedros’ commitment to quality and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation and Service

Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty coffees.

Ensure all drinks are made according to Pedros’ quality standards and established recipes.

Deliver outstanding customer service with warmth, efficiency, and professionalism.
Operational Excellence

Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized coffee preparation area at all times.

Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment responsibly.

Perform regular cleaning, calibration, and minor maintenance of coffee equipment.
Stock and Resource Management

Monitor and manage coffee supplies, ensuring consistent stock levels.

Communicate replenishment needs to the Facilities or Kitchen Supervisor timeously.

Assist in controlling waste and monitoring product usage efficiently.
Health, Safety, and Hygiene Compliance

Adhere strictly to food safety and health regulations in all coffee preparation and serving activities.

Follow proper hygiene procedures and maintain high cleanliness standards.

Report equipment faults or safety concerns promptly to management.
Team Collaboration

Work closely with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Support kitchen or office hospitality needs during events or meetings.

Contribute positively to the overall environment, promoting teamwork and brand pride.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric qualification (essential).

1–2 years of experience as a Barista in a restaurant, café, or hospitality setting (preferred).

Experience operating professional espresso machines and grinders.

Basic food hygiene knowledge or certification (advantageous).

Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
