Position Overview
Hollard is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior IT Service Delivery Manager to oversee and optimise IT service operations supporting Hollard Australia. This leadership position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and focuses on managing teams, improving processes, and driving digital performance excellence across the organisation.
The successful candidate will manage cross-functional teams, partner with the Australian business unit, and lead initiatives that enhance service delivery, automation, and innovation. You will be at the heart of building and shaping a future-ready IT practice aligned with Hollard’s business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Motivate, lead, and manage IT professionals by setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and recognising top performance.

Oversee and coordinate software analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.

Partner with Hollard Australia’s leadership team to align IT operations with business needs.

Identify and manage project risks, scope changes, and delivery constraints.

Review and approve all production environment changes ensuring proper business authorisation.

Guide and review project documentation, including technical requirements, test plans, and implementation strategies.

Promote and embed an Agile delivery mindset within teams.

Manage recruitment, performance reviews, and employee development within the IT department.

Identify efficiency improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices in IT service delivery.

Ensure compliance with emerging IT policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

Champion continuous improvement and service excellence across all IT support functions.
Required Knowledge and Experience
-
Proven experience supervising application development and production support teams.
-
Experience managing multiple concurrent IT projects of varying complexity.

Strong working knowledge of formal project management and Agile methodologies.
-
Previous involvement in Guidewire, Duck Creek, or other core insurance platform implementations (advantageous).

In-depth knowledge of the ITIL framework and IT service management best practices.

Experience with DevOps and DevSecOps tools and processes.

Proficiency with collaboration and automation tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Teams, Jenkins, Selenium, Cruise Control, and Ant.

Understanding of application security including threat modelling and vulnerability scanning.

At least five years of leadership experience in managing developers and testers within IT delivery environments.
Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or an equivalent qualification (required).

Additional certifications in Project Management, Agile, or ITIL are highly advantageous.

Working knowledge of programming and database technologies such as Gosu, SQL, Java, JavaScript, SOAP/RESTful Web Services, XML, and Git.

Prior experience within the insurance or financial services industry will be beneficial.
