Position Overview
The Data Capturer role involves accurate and timely capturing, cleaning, and managing of HIV patient data across the Gert Sibande District. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, computer literacy, and an understanding of HIV/AIDS programmes, supporting line managers with accurate reporting and data management for health interventions.
This role also includes professional development opportunities, collaboration with monitoring and evaluation teams, and occasional support across multiple data management functions.
Key Responsibilities
Capturing of HIV Patient Data

Capture all relevant patient data on site using the LYNX App.

Reach daily targets for number of files captured or updated, as agreed with line managers.

Record daily work performance statistics (‘data entry stats’) to support performance management.

Ensure patient confidentiality is respected at all times.
Cleaning and Reporting

Compile daily Blitz Reports and assist with data cleaning as required.

Collaborate with the data team in compiling reports, such as PEPFAR reports and DoH reports on VCT, TB, PMTCT, Care, and ART programmes.
Ongoing Skills Development

Take responsibility for personal professional growth.

Seek guidance from supervisors or managers when uncertain about patient data entry or other procedures.

Attend compulsory in-house trainings and additional relevant courses to maintain and improve professional skills.
System Management Support

Assist M&E officers, senior data capturers, and clerks during leave or staff shortages.

Support District Managers during reporting deadlines in their absence, where needed.

Perform other duties as requested by Right to Care management.
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
-
Post-matric certificate in computer literacy, including Excel, or equivalent experience.
-
Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS programmes.

At least 1 year of data capturing experience.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Post-matric diploma in computer literacy, including Excel, or equivalent experience.

2 years of data capturing experience in health or related fields.
