Position Overview
The Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant provides critical support in the dispensary, ensuring accurate preparation, dispensing, and management of pharmaceutical products. The role encompasses assisting patients with medication, managing stock control, supporting the pharmacist in daily operations, and maintaining adherence to legal and company standards.
This position is ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career in pharmacy and retail healthcare services.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
-
Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
-
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Experience working on Unisolv.
-
Computer literate (MS Office).
-
Sound numerical skills.
-
Strong command of English and a second language.
-
Willing and able to work retail hours.
Advantageous:
-
Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations.
-
Proficiency in a third additional language.
-
Experience with SAP and E-Scripting.
-
Knowledge of drug and family planning or complementary medicine.
Key Responsibilities
-
Assist in the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1 and 2 medicines.
-
Support compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines according to formulas and SOPs approved by a pharmacist.

Assist in manufacturing, repackaging, distribution, and control of stock for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
-
Accurately interpret prescriptions, prepare, label, and supply medication under pharmacist supervision.

Capture script details and verify patient information on the system.

Ensure all medications are checked and signed off by a pharmacist.
-
Provide patients with clear instructions on medicine usage.
-
Assist in processing medical aid claims, chronic authorisations, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication.

Maintain customer profiles, merge records, and follow up on script tracking reports.

Manage stock ordering, stock rotation (FEFO), and bi-annual stock takes.

Exercise cash, stock, and asset control.
-
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
