The Merchandiser role at Thavhani Mall ensures efficient stock management, high merchandising standards, and excellent customer service while maintaining the appearance and accessibility of products in the store.


Position Overview

As a Merchandiser, you will be responsible for restocking, organizing, and maintaining store products to ensure maximum sales, minimal stock loss, and superior customer experience. This role requires attention to detail, effective communication, and adherence to store policies and SOPs.

This position is ideal for candidates with retail experience and a keen eye for merchandising and stock control.


Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.

  • Up to 6 months’ retail experience.

  • Computer literate, proficient in MS Office.

  • Willing and able to work retail hours.

Advantageous:

  • At least 1 year of retail experience.

  • Bilingual communication skills.

  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry.

  • Familiarity with product and category management.

  • Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking.


Key Responsibilities

  • Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales.

  • Ensure delivered stock and storeroom items are stored and packed correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Monitor shelf stock to avoid expired or out-of-date products.

  • Maintain full product range and rotation on shelves (FIFO).

  • Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged, or expired stock to management.

  • Assist with stocktaking, counting stock files, and general inventory management.

  • Adhere to store layout, planograms, and Dis-Chem operating standards.

  • Ensure front shop shelves and products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.

  • Build, face, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.

  • Maintain daily upkeep of store and merchandise displays on the shop floor and storeroom.

  • Assist with loading and off-loading stock, marking items without barcodes, and back shopping.

  • Support training of new staff.

  • Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous customer service.

  • Follow up on all customer stock queries and out-of-stock items.

  • Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.

  • Minimise losses by handling merchandise carefully.

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health & safety regulations.
