Position Overview
The Casual Merchandiser plays an essential role in supporting customer service and sales operations. The role focuses on assisting customers at the point of sale, maintaining accurate transaction records, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
Candidates who are selected for the talent pool will be considered for potential part-time or permanent merchandising positions in Dis-Chem stores.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric.
-
Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier, till operations, or merchandising.

Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office.

Sound numerical and literacy skills.

Strong command of English (written and verbal).
-
Willing and able to work retail hours, weekends, and public holidays.
Advantageous:
-
Knowledge of customer loyalty programs (e.g., eBucks, Discovery Health, Momentum Multiply).
-
Fluency in a third South African language.
-
Prior Dis-Chem front shop or retail merchandising experience.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver world-class customer service at the point of sale.

Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and team members.

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service and security policies.

Accurately process transactions using Dis-Chem’s operating system.

Manage cash flow, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.

Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds in line with company procedures.

Assist in promoting current sales and promotions.

Maintain store presentation and merchandising standards.

Report customer complaints or compliments to store management.

Ensure drop safe procedures are followed according to SOPs.

Recognize and report suspicious behaviour or potential risks.

Support overall store operations to ensure smooth customer service delivery.
