The Cashier role at Thavhani Mall allows you to be part of a dynamic retail environment, supporting customer service at the point of sale while ensuring accuracy, security, and an exceptional shopping experience for every customer.
Position Overview
As a Cashier, you will manage daily transactions, maintain cash flow, and provide a professional and friendly service to customers. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity, ensuring all sales and payments are processed in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and SOPs.
This position is ideal for candidates with cash handling experience and a passion for customer service in a retail pharmacy environment.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
-
Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience.
-
Computer literate, proficient in MS Office.
-
Sound numerical and cash handling skills.
-
Strong command of English.
-
Basic customer service knowledge.
-
Willing and able to work retail hours.
Advantageous:
-
Proficiency in a third additional language.
Key Responsibilities
-
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures.
-
Establish professional and positive relationships with customers.
-
Report customer complaints and compliments to supervisors or store management.
-
Maintain customer turnover hourly rate.
-
Ensure awareness of current sales, promotions, and loyalty programs.
-
Manage cash flow, line voids, price changes, and transactions securely.
-
Process payments via cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other approved methods.
-
Process all loyalty cards, including Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.

Ensure all cash is secured in drop safes according to SOPs.

Monitor outgoing stock/items/scripts to prevent loss or fraud.

Handle daily takings confidentially and report suspicious activity to management.

Address customer queries regarding store merchandise.

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures at all times.
