BRB, part of Premier Foods, is a leading food manufacturer in South Africa, specializing in grain milling and bakery products. The Vereeniging facility is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager – Milling to provide technical food safety leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain GFSI and FSSC 22000 certifications.
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in food safety, quality management systems, and the milling or FMCG food production industry.
Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager – Milling will be responsible for ensuring the production of food-safe products, maintaining compliance with international food safety standards, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the QA team. The role involves auditing, training, and implementing best practices to protect the brand and meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Guide implementation and maintenance of GFSI and regulatory compliance to ensure food-safe products.

Secure and maintain certifications through internal and external audits.

Resolve consumer complaints through NCR management, investigations, corrective actions, and process improvements.

Conduct quarterly internal audits and annual site audits to verify compliance.

Manage food safety management systems in line with ISO/TS and ISO 22000 standards.

Train staff on food safety compliance, standards, and best practices.

Enhance QA team competence through external and induction training programs.

Develop, review, and maintain QA and food safety policies, SOPs, and work instructions.

Support continuous improvement by researching global best practices, food safety technologies, and process optimization opportunities.

Perform data analysis to enhance product safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
-
Biotech/Food Technologies Degree or BTECH Degree (Essential)

FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor Certification (Essential)

3–5 years’ experience as QA/QC Manager in Grain Milling or FMCG food-producing sites
Desirable Attributes:

Knowledge of grain milling and baking processes

Experience in supplier compliance and quality systems management

Strong understanding of ISO 22000, ISO/TS 22002-1, ISO/TS 22002-4, GFSI, and FSSC 22000 standards

Familiarity with HACCP and regulatory requirements

Competence in non-conformance handling, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
