Our Noordhoek Manor facility, situated just over Ou Kaapse Weg and 10 minutes from Blue Route Mall, is now seeking a skilled Kitchen Manager to oversee operations and ensure consistent quality and efficiency in all aspects of food preparation and service.


Role Overview

As a Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for leading kitchen operations, supervising staff, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, controlling stock, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for residents and patients. You will work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to maintain operational excellence and compliance with health and safety regulations.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for culinary management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Stock & Kitchen Operations

  • Implement and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Oversee daily stock control, including food, beverages, and kitchen equipment.

  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Manage procurement in line with company policy.

  • Minimize wastage through efficient portioning and monitoring.

  • Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment to ensure smooth operations.

  • Ensure proper food storage, temperature checks, and stock rotation.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Lead HACCP implementation and conduct regular hygiene checks.

  • Attend and contribute to monthly Health & Safety meetings.

  • Ensure compliance with Department of Health and company standards.

  • Report, investigate, and resolve incidents and hazards promptly.

  • Promote a safety-first culture among all kitchen staff.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise, mentor, and coach kitchen staff and scullers.

  • Conduct regular performance check-ins and provide on-the-job training.

  • Ensure proper induction and onboarding of new team members.

  • Train staff on SOPs, safety procedures, and efficient kitchen practices.

Administration & Reporting

  • Complete and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly kitchen reports.

  • Manage kitchen assets, including crockery, utensils, and equipment.

  • Conduct accurate audits and reconcile any discrepancies.

  • Suggest and implement process improvements to drive efficiency.


Education and Qualifications

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric)

  • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts

  • Advanced Certificate in Kitchen Management (advantageous)

  • Food Safety / Hygiene Certification


Experience and Knowledge

  • Previous management experience in kitchen operations

  • Experience in the food service industry

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations

  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems

Working Hours

  • 45 hours per week: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00

  • Every alternate Saturday: 08:00 – 13:00
