Role Overview

The Cashier Talent Pool position focuses on providing excellent customer service at point of sale, ensuring accurate transaction recording, and maintaining a safe and efficient shopping environment. While membership in the talent pool does not guarantee employment, it positions you for consideration when vacancies arise.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver professional and courteous service to all customers.
Process transactions efficiently and accurately using Dis-Chem’s operating system.
Handle cash, card payments, vouchers, and loyalty program transactions securely.
Maintain cash drawer accuracy and adhere strictly to SOPs.
Monitor and manage customer complaints and compliments.
Follow current promotions and sales procedures.
Maintain awareness of safety and security policies to protect customers, staff, and assets.
Adhere to Dis-Chem 5-star communication principles.
Report suspicious activities to management and ensure compliance with company procedures.
Ensure proper handling of returned goods and authorizations for exchanges.
Process all loyalty cards, including Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric
At least 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
Computer literate (MS Office)
Strong numerical skills
Proficient in English (written and oral)
Basic customer service knowledge
Willing to work retail hours

Advantageous:

Knowledge of a third language
