Role Overview

As a Cashier, your main responsibility is to process all customer transactions efficiently and accurately, ensuring compliance with Dis-Chem’s policies and standard operating procedures. You will contribute to a safe, secure, and friendly shopping environment for all customers.

Key Responsibilities

Operate the Dis-Chem cash register system to process customer purchases.
Handle all forms of payments including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and loyalty programs.
Maintain cash drawer accuracy and secure all funds according to SOPs.
Provide professional, courteous, and prompt customer service.
Monitor and manage customer complaints, compliments, and inquiries.
Ensure all merchandise returns, exchanges, and price adjustments are properly authorised.
Process loyalty cards including accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, ABSA Rewards, eBucks).
Maintain awareness of current promotions, sales, and store procedures.
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security and safety policies to protect customers, staff, and assets.
Report suspicious activities and ensure adherence to company protocols.
Uphold the Dis-Chem 5-star communication and customer service standards.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric
At least 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
Computer literate (MS Office)
Strong numerical skills
Proficient in English (written and oral)
Basic customer service knowledge
Willing to work retail hours

Advantageous:

Knowledge of a third language
