This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to accurate cash handling while delivering excellent customer service.
Role Overview
As a Cashier, you will manage customer transactions, handle payments securely, and provide friendly and efficient service. You will ensure adherence to company policies and standard operating procedures, minimizing errors and eliminating fraud risk.
Key Responsibilities

Process customer purchases efficiently and accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system.

Ensure secure handling of cash and adherence to all till procedures.

Provide professional and courteous service to all customers.

Manage returns, exchanges, and loyalty programs, including accelerator partners.

Report customer complaints, compliments, and suspicious activity to management.

Reconcile cash and maintain cash drawer accuracy daily.

Follow security and safety policies to protect staff, customers, and assets.

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication and customer service principles.

Maintain awareness of current sales, promotions, and operational procedures.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric

Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations

Computer literate (MS Office)

Strong numerical skills

Proficient in English (written and oral)

Basic customer service knowledge

Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous:

Knowledge of a third additional language
