Role Overview

The Junior Associate role is designed for candidates who have recently completed their SAICA articles and are ready to advance into the next stage of their professional journey.

As part of the Financial Services team, you will work closely with the Audit Engagement Manager in the UK, assisting in the planning, execution, and completion of audit fieldwork. This role will give you the opportunity to engage with complex financial services audits, manage workloads efficiently, and deliver high-quality audit outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Associate in the BDO Wave team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Audit Execution: Complete sections of audit work in line with UK requirements.

  • Analytical Reviews: Perform detailed analytical reviews on entities, covering both overall financial statements and specific sections.

  • Planning and Finalisation: Contribute to planning stages and finalisation processes, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Progress Updates: Provide regular feedback to UK-based managers and partners regarding the status of your work.

  • Productivity and Accountability: Manage your time effectively and take accountability for productivity and deliverables.

  • Compliance Training: Participate in ongoing online and in-person training to stay updated on technical standards, audit methodologies, and compliance requirements.

  • Collaboration: Work effectively with both local and UK teams to deliver audit services of the highest quality.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Qualifications: Newly qualified CA(SA) or eligible to register with SAICA.

  • Experience: Less than one year of post-articles experience.

  • Technical Skills: Practical experience in full IFRS audits.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with independent reviews is advantageous.
