This permanent position offers a unique opportunity for a highly experienced individual to take charge of critical quality control functions, ensuring the integrity and value of grain throughout its journey from producer to consumer.

This is more than a grading role; it’s a leadership position that requires a hands-on approach to management, quality assurance, and team supervision. As a Senior Grain Grader, you will be at the heart of the silo operations, directly influencing grain quality, loss control, and overall efficiency. You will be instrumental in upholding the high standards for which Senwes is known, making this an ideal role for someone who is not only knowledgeable but also dedicated to accuracy and accountability.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the complete grain handling process, from the moment grain arrives at the silo to its final dispatch. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that every step adheres to strict quality and safety protocols.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

This requires close supervision, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of grading standards. Your expertise will guarantee that grain quality is correctly assessed from the outset.
  • Quality Control and Storage: Maintaining product quality is a continuous process. You will be responsible for closely monitoring, analyzing reports, and making timely decisions to ensure the integrity of the grain throughout its storage timeframe. This includes ensuring correct and safe fumigation when necessary to prevent pest infestation.
  • Accurate Dispatching: You will oversee the accurate and timely dispatching of grain, ensuring that all outgoing products meet the clients’ specifications and quality expectations.
  • Silo Maintenance and Hygiene: A clean and well-maintained silo is essential for quality control. You will be tasked with ensuring that the silo premises are consistently clean, neat, and free of insect infestation by allocating tasks and closely supervising the team.
  • Equipment Management: You will play a proactive role in ensuring all mechanical equipment is regularly serviced and maintained. This includes initiating maintenance and service requests to your line supervisor to prevent operational downtime and ensure the smooth flow of work.
  • Loss Control and Compliance: A key part of your role involves implementing and adhering to effective loss control measures through hands-on supervision and follow-up. You will also ensure full compliance with all relevant Health & Safety Regulations, creating a secure working environment for everyone.
  • Training and Mentorship: As a senior member of the team, you will engage in discussions with working staff to foster improvements in work standards and attitude. You will also evaluate competence levels and provide on-the-job training to new and junior team members, acting as a mentor and leader.
