Role Overview
The Shop Assistant position is a permanent, entry-level role based in George, Western Cape. This role focuses on maximizing sales through exceptional customer service and proactive selling techniques.
The successful candidate will interact with customers directly on the sales floor, helping them navigate the store’s extensive range of toys, baby products, and merchandise. They will also assist in merchandising, stock control, and supporting store operations to ensure a smooth, well-organized shopping environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant at Toys R Us and Babies R Us, your responsibilities will include:

Delivering WOW Customer Experiences: Provide exceptional service to ensure every customer leaves with a positive and memorable experience.

Sales Generation: Maximize sales by promoting products, upselling additional items, and achieving store sales targets.

Customer Consultation: Assist customers by identifying their needs, explaining product features, providing recommendations, and offering advice on prices and warranties.

Merchandising: Ensure products are correctly priced, displayed, and promoted according to company standards and visual merchandising guidelines.

Promotion Execution: Implement and maintain all advertised promotions on time to ensure marketing campaigns are effective and impactful.

Stock Management: Participate in stock takes, monitor fast and slow-moving products, and minimize stock loss through proper handling and storage.

Administrative Duties: Support management by providing regular feedback, reporting on inventory, and helping with store audits when necessary.

Housekeeping and Store Presentation: Maintain a clean and organized sales floor to create a positive shopping environment.

Compliance: Follow all company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency in service and store operations.

Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and managers to foster a supportive and professional work environment.

Entry Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Matric Certificate (Grade 12)

Minimum of six (6) months retail experience

Must have own or reliable transport to accommodate shift work

Strong communication skills and customer service orientation

Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
