Role Overview
The Learner Maintenance (Unemployed Prod) Programme is a structured learnership that combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practical training. Learners will be placed in a real-world manufacturing environment where they will be exposed to different aspects of production, maintenance, and operations. This programme is specifically tailored for unemployed individuals who want to enter the manufacturing industry and gain formal recognition of their skills.
On successful completion, learners will achieve a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 3 certification, which enhances employability and opens doors to further training or entry-level technical jobs in South Africa’s industrial sector.
Key Responsibilities
During the learnership, participants will be expected to:

Work effectively as part of a production and maintenance team.

Follow all workplace safety procedures and apply knowledge of safe work practices.

Correctly use hand tools and power tools in various manufacturing tasks.

Read, understand, and interpret assembly and manufacturing drawings.

Apply marking-off techniques as part of preparation for welding and fabrication.

Carry out basic welding tasks under supervision.

Operate and monitor production machinery according to set standards.

Prepare and maintain surfaces before and after production activities.

Respond to emergency scenarios with basic fire-fighting techniques.

Assist in daily operations, product handling, and dispatch of finished goods.

Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following requirements:

A National Technical Certificate (N3 – N6) is highly recommended.

A Matric/Technical Matric with key technical subjects such as:

Mathematics and Physical Science or Engineering Science

Electrical Trade Theory or Mechanical Trade Theory

Motor Trade Theory

Mechanical Drawing or Graphical Design
