Role Overview
The Assistant: General Underground role, graded as Level A, is an entry-level opportunity within the Modder East business unit of Gold One Group Limited. This position is specifically designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical mining experience and develop their skills in underground operations.
The role requires working in challenging underground environments, supporting mining operations, and ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant: General Underground, your main duties will include:

Shift Work: Work in rotation across shifts, ensuring full operational support underground.

Safety Compliance: Perform all duties strictly according to safety training and company protocols.

Equipment and Material Monitoring: Be observant of the condition of tools, machinery, and materials to ensure adherence to company standards.

Reporting Issues: Promptly report any potential problems that could obstruct workflow or compromise safety.

Housekeeping: Ensure workplace cleanliness and compliance with underground housekeeping procedures.

Health and Safety: Follow all Health and Safety policies, including Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) standards, when performing underground tasks.

Team Support: Perform additional duties as required by supervisors, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification: Grade 11 or equivalent ABET Level.

Certification: MQA Competency B Certificate is compulsory.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English; fluency in any of the 11 official South African languages is advantageous.

Physical Fitness: Must be declared medically fit by the Gold One Occupational Health Centre.

Citizenship: South African citizenship is required.

Clean Record: Clear criminal record.

Adaptability: Ability to adapt to change in a dynamic and fast-paced mining environment.
