Role Overview
The Food Service Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation, serving, and presentation of meals and beverages to customers, ensuring that Tsebo’s catering standards are upheld at all times. The role requires excellent customer service, the ability to work under pressure, and a proactive approach to ensuring that both kitchen and service areas remain clean, safe, and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of high-quality meals, fast foods, sandwiches, and other menu items for branded outlets.

Serve meals and beverages efficiently while maintaining excellent customer interactions and professionalism.

Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety across both kitchen and service areas.

Support with regular stock-taking to ensure accurate inventory control and minimize waste.

Build and maintain excellent customer relationships by providing friendly, warm, and consistent service.

Ensure compliance with Tsebo’s professional performance standards for catering and customer service.

Carefully prepare and present food items to ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.

Follow loss prevention guidelines, keeping waste, theft, and stock discrepancies to a minimum.

Adhere to workplace behaviour standards in line with Tsebo’s policies.

Assist with waste removal, dishwashing, and general upkeep of the food service environment.

Perform other duties as required, including supporting special functions, events, or additional responsibilities outside the regular routine.
Skills and Competencies
The role requires a combination of technical catering skills and personal attributes to succeed. Candidates should demonstrate the following:

Excellent customer service skills with a warm and professional approach.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and interpersonal, to engage effectively with customers and colleagues.
