ROLE OVERVIEW

The Store Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the Parelberg store in Paarl. This includes the store floor, dispensary, stockroom, admin office, canteen, and communal areas. The role ensures that all cleaning duties are performed according to Dis-Chem’s hygienic and health standards, creating a welcoming and safe environment for staff and customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric.
Minimum of 6 months’ cleaning experience.
Sound command of English (written and verbal).
Basic customer service skills.
Willing and able to work retail hours.
Additional language specific to the area is advantageous.

Advantageous:

Bilingual proficiency.
Previous retail store cleaning experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the store before opening and during operational hours.
Clean store floor, dispensary, stockroom, admin office, canteen, and communal areas.
Develop cleaning routines to ensure all areas are consistently maintained.
Ensure restrooms and canteen are clean, stocked, and hygienic at all times.
Use correct cleaning products and equipment for specific tasks.
Ensure wet floor signs are used appropriately and visible during cleaning.
Assist customers in a friendly and professional manner when required.
Comply with Health and Safety Regulations during all cleaning activities.

Prior cleaning experience.

Trustworthy and honest.
Customer service orientation.
Time management and reliability.

Advantageous:

Experience in retail store cleaning.
Bilingual communication skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Physically fit for walking, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, lifting, pushing, and moving objects.
Willing and able to work retail hours.
Reliable transport and/or residence close to the store.
South African citizen.
Clear credit and criminal records.
