ROLE OVERVIEW

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier to join the team at our new Market Square Shopping Centre store in Plettenberg Bay.

The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service at point of sale, process transactions accurately, and contribute to the overall efficiency and integrity of the store.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 / Matric essential.
Minimum 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience.
Computer literacy (MS Office).
Strong numerical skills.
Excellent command of the English language (verbal & written).
Basic customer service skills.
Willing and able to work retail hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide world-class customer service at point of sale.
Accurately process all transactions (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, loyalty points).
Handle refunds, exchanges, and returns according to company policy.
Maintain strict control over cash flow and till accuracy.
Ensure all outgoing stock is scanned and paid for.
Place cash securely in drop safes per SOPs.
Monitor and report suspicious customer behaviour.
Stay updated on promotions and sales.
Comply with security and safety policies.
Build professional relationships with customers and colleagues.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Essential:

Cash register operation and cash drawer balancing.
Knowledge of sales, refunds, and payment processing.
Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Presentable and professional.
Emotional intelligence and customer awareness.
Accountability, honesty, and trustworthiness.
Time management and problem-solving skills.

Advantageous:

Ability to speak a third additional language.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must be willing and able to work retail hours.
Must have reliable transport or reside nearby.
Must be a South African citizen.
Clear credit and criminal record required.
