ABOUT THE ROLE
AFGRI Equipment is seeking a Workshop Manager to oversee all activities in its Middelburg workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring agricultural equipment is repaired and maintained to the highest standards while providing leadership, guidance, and supervision to a team of Technicians.
This role requires technical expertise in agricultural mechanisation, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage operations efficiently while delivering excellent customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise all workshop activities, including scheduling and controlling work processes.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve workshop-related issues promptly.
- Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all staff use prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships by resolving queries and complaints within the required turnaround time.
- Manage warranty claims to ensure credits are processed and received.
- Oversee scheduling of work hours and ensure job cards are kept updated.
- Control and maintain workshop tools and equipment.
- Provide regular operational reports to management.
- Monitor and control workshop budgets.
- Manage employee performance, including setting KPIs, monitoring standards, identifying training needs, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric) – essential.
- Qualified Mechanisation Technician.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified mechanisation technician.
- At least 3 years’ John Deere experience – essential.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to lead and motivate a workshop team.
- Understanding of agricultural machinery, technology, and farming operations.
- Valid driver’s licence.
