TWK Agri is inviting applications for the position of Underwriter (Short-Term Insurance) within the Insurance Department based in Knysna, Western Cape. Key Responsibilities
As an Underwriter, your core responsibility is to evaluate and renew short-term insurance policies while ensuring that underwriting decisions align with company strategy and regulatory frameworks. You’ll play an essential role in maintaining compliance, supporting brokers and clients, and analysing underwriting trends.
Your duties will include:
- Underwriting and renewing short-term insurance policies
- Evaluating applications and making risk-based decisions
- Preparing policy documentation in line with legal standards
- Supporting clients and brokers with queries, quotations, and policy renewals
- Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements such as FAIS and POPIA
- Analysing data to identify areas for process improvement
- Maintaining accurate and secure underwriting records
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Matric / Grade 12
- 2–3 years of experience in short-term insurance underwriting
- A relevant degree in Finance, Insurance, or Business (advantageous)
- RE5 certification is beneficial
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Strong decision-making and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Customer-focused with a strong attention to detail
- Organised, reliable, and able to perform under pressure
