Fraser Alexander is currently seeking a qualified SHEQ Assistant to join its team in Limpopo. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) management system, both within the company and in alignment with client expectations. Key Responsibilities
Policy, Targets, Objectives, and Goals
- Display the current SHE Policy in all operational areas.
- Ensure all employees are informed and aware of SHE targets, objectives, and goals.
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding SHE standards.
Legal Compliance
- Ensure all company practices comply with relevant legislation.
- Manage and submit statutory documentation as required.
- Conduct quarterly audits to review and update appointments.
- Advise management and appointees on roles, responsibilities, and duties related to SHEQ compliance.
Risk Assessment
- Confirm all operational contracts are supported by a baseline risk assessment.
- Annually review and update baseline risk assessments.
- Assist operational teams with risk identification and assessments.
- Conduct Workplace Safety Work Procedures (WSWP) and planned task observations.
- Carry out issue-based risk assessments for all reportable or disabling incidents.
- Monitor and report on WCA claim statuses and employee medical fitness.
Special Projects
- Provide regular feedback to management on project status.
- Conduct end-of-project reviews for continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma or BTech in Safety Management
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Safety or SHEQ role
- Tailings or mining industry experience will be an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong planning, organizing, leading, and control skills
- Excellent communication, training, and facilitation capabilities
- Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Valid Driver’s License
