Website Manager – Ackermans Support Centre, Cape Town

Are you an experienced digital professional ready to take charge of one of South Africa’s leading fashion retail websites? Ackermans is looking for a Website Manager to join our Support Centre in Cape Town, where your strategic mindset, analytical ability, and cross-functional collaboration will help lead the growth of our eCommerce and digital channel. If you’re passionate about user experience, thrive in a data-driven environment, and have experience managing high-volume retail websites, this opportunity is tailor-made for you.

About the Role

The Website Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the performance of Ackermans’ digital platforms, with a primary focus on the online store. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of eCommerce and UX best practices, and a proven track record of managing high-performing websites within a fast-paced retail or commercial setting.

This role requires a high level of ownership. You will ensure that our digital presence not only aligns with business goals but also drives engagement, conversions, and overall online growth. Reporting to the Senior Manager: Digital Operations, you’ll work closely with a talented team, including content creators, data analysts, product managers, and developers, to ensure seamless and impactful digital operations.

If you’re someone who is both analytical and creative—with strong attention to detail and a passion for improving user journeys—this position offers a chance to make a measurable impact at one of South Africa’s most loved retail brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end performance of Ackermans’ website, including UX, functionality, and content
  • Collaborate with UX and UI teams to optimise site performance and user journeys based on analytics
  • Work with developers to brief, test, and approve all digital changes and new functionalities
  • Maintain content accuracy, product updates, and timely campaign implementation
  • Analyse customer journeys to identify friction points and recommend data-driven improvements
  • Monitor KPIs like traffic, conversion, bounce rate, load times, and other vital performance metrics
  • Oversee technical SEO implementation and ensure best practices are in place
  • Collaborate with marketing, buying, and operations to ensure alignment across digital touchpoints
  • Manage site maintenance calendars, releases, and regression testing
  • Conduct regular competitor analysis to stay ahead of digital trends and innovations

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Media, eCommerce, or a related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing a transactional eCommerce website
  • Deep knowledge of website analytics (Google Analytics), A/B testing tools, and tag management
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), especially in retail
  • Solid understanding of SEO, UX/UI principles, and conversion optimisation techniques
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
