About the Role
As a Shop Assistant Cashier P27, your primary focus will be to provide an outstanding shopping experience by ensuring that stock is replenished efficiently, merchandise is well presented, housekeeping is maintained, and transactions at till points are processed accurately. You will play a key role in upholding Ackermans’ reputation for excellent customer service and creating a welcoming store atmosphere.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to engage with customers in a friendly, professional manner
- Strong communication skills, with fluency in English (knowledge of additional languages is an advantage)
- Tenacity and a high energy level to stay motivated in a dynamic retail environment
- Highly motivated and target-driven with a passion for delivering results
- Previous retail experience is beneficial but not essential — we welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow
- Competency in cashier duties, including handling cash, card payments, lay-bys, and customer refunds
- Ability to report discrepancies and problems to supervisors promptly
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on merchandising and housekeeping to ensure the sales floor is attractive and inviting
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service to enhance the overall shopping experience
- Assist customers in locating products and addressing their queries or concerns
- Accurately and efficiently process cash and card payments, lay-bys, and refunds at the till
- Maintain a balanced till and report any discrepancies
- Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, and replenished regularly
- Uphold store standards through diligent housekeeping and presentation of goods
- Monitor and prevent stock loss by tagging products correctly and being vigilant about shoplifting or fraudulent activities
- Consistently live by Ackermans’ values, policies, and procedures in all aspects of work
