About the Role

The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, coaching staff, and ensuring that sales targets and brand standards are consistently achieved. This position requires a hands-on leader capable of driving team performance while maintaining exceptional customer service.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Required Experience and Skills

  • 1–2 years of management experience in the retail sector
  • Fluent in English and one additional official South African language
  • Strong sales and interpersonal skills
  • Logical thinking and high analytical capability
  • Performance-focused with a high energy level
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented
  • Excellent customer care and communication abilities
  • Leadership confidence and ability to drive team performance

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist Store Manager in meeting monthly budgets and profitability goals
  • Lead and motivate floor staff to achieve daily sales targets
  • Ensure customer service excellence is consistently delivered
  • Supervise daily sales operations, payments, and team coordination
  • Implement visual merchandising and brand standards
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, including unpacking and trend analysis
  • Maintain store administration and SOP compliance
  • Handle opening and closing procedures
  • Train and coach new and existing team members
  • Step in to manage store operations during Store Manager’s absence
  • Foster a culture that aligns with Tekkie Town’s values and work ethic
