Role Overview
The Fleet Controller plays a central role in Pedros’ logistics operations, tasked with overseeing the daily performance, safety, and compliance of all vehicles within the company’s Cape Town-based fleet. This position requires the ability to manage operational processes, monitor vehicle usage and performance, escalate anomalies, and ensure all SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are met with precision.
Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, this role demands a keen eye for detail, operational integrity, and leadership that inspires action from support staff and drivers alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Reinforce and maintain Pedros People values across the team, especially among new hires.
- Monitor and verify completion of daily check sheets, truck wash records, tyre inspections, and vehicle safety assessments.
- Oversee and reconcile fuel consumption, mileage, and toll transactions, escalating discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor GPS and C-Track functionality, ensuring accuracy of telematics data and addressing faults immediately.
- Ensure fleet attendants complete all necessary vehicle checklists accurately and on time.
- Conduct weekly audits on Fuel & Toll Card Registers.
- Monitor OTIF (On Time In Full) performance indicators and report delays and discrepancies.
- Compile and submit the Daily Logistics Report as per the SOP.
- Supervise maintenance schedules, manage repairs, and escalate major faults.
- Oversee long-distance travel planning, including voucher management and overnight logistics.
- Maintain chemical stock levels for truck wash operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric certificate is essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or business administration is advantageous.
- Proven experience in logistics, fleet management, or transportation operations is required.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fleet management software.
- Experience using GPS tracking systems and telematics tools.
- Familiarity with SOP implementation and operational audits.
- Strong organisational and time management skills are mandatory.

- Experience with Fleet Management Software (e.g. C-Track, Mix Telematics).
- Advanced knowledge of GPS Systems and data interpretation.
- Solid understanding of fuel management systems and cost efficiency measures.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, maintenance schedules, and SOP alignment.
Key Performance Indicators
- OTIF (On Time In Full) rate optimisation.
- On-time daily dispatch adherence.
- Reduction in variable cost per delivery.
- Complete and timely invoice submissions.
- Effective monitoring of consumption per kilometre (KM/L).
