RCL Foods is actively seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Stock Inventory Controller on a fixed-term contract to join their Grocery Division in Randfontein, Gauteng. This vital role reports to the Process Manager and focuses on inventory accuracy and loss prevention within the conversion process.

Role Overview

The main purpose of this role is to develop and manage an inventory system that precisely tracks material movement, consumption, waste, and finished goods for the production process. The controller will coordinate stock counts, conduct variance analysis, and lead initiatives aimed at reducing inventory losses while coaching production teams on best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric) is essential
  • Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Economics or Warehouse Management (NQF Level 6)
  • At least 3 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, data analysis, and operational execution
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Counting and Analysis

  • Conduct weekly cycle counts focusing on the top 15 materials with the highest financial or physical losses
  • Coordinate and execute monthly stock counts in line with company policies
  • Perform weekly and monthly variance analyses to identify discrepancies and losses

Loss Prevention and Process Improvement

  • Lead targeted inventory improvement projects aimed at reducing physical and financial losses
  • Set up and monitor scrap systems for packaging processes, ensuring weekly write-offs for conversion activities such as preparation, extrusion, and packaging
  • Investigate system versus physical stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions to maintain accuracy

System Management and Compliance

  • Ensure incoming product is correctly receipted and managed per company procedures
  • Verify adherence to FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles to minimize waste
  • Maintain and optimize inventory processes ensuring alignment with ERP systems
  • Confirm stock delivery orders (SDO) are invoiced and loaded accurately per plan
  • Validate that shipments loaded into the ERP system match physical production and production plans by SKU

Documentation and Reporting

  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and One Point Lessons (OPLs) to enhance operational practices and ensure compliance
  • Report safety and quality incidents during shifts
  • Generate and analyze stock reports regularly, recommending SOP updates for improved accuracy
  • Consistently meet key performance indicators related to productivity, accuracy, and housekeeping
