The Milling Operating Unit in Pretoria West is currently seeking Semi-Skilled Artisans to become a part of a proactive and efficient team. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with mechanical or electrical knowledge and a passion for hands-on technical work in a fast-paced production environment.
Minimum Requirements for the Role
- N4 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (N5 or higher will be advantageous)
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
- At least 3 months’ experience in a production or factory setting
- Basic knowledge and experience with hand tools
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment
- Trade-tested qualification in any of the following will be an advantage:
- Electrician
- Millwright
- Fitter
- Fitter and Turner
- Boilermaker
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on production equipment
- Respond to machine breakdowns and emergencies
- Conduct fault finding and perform emergency repairs to reduce downtime
- Assist in ensuring optimal performance and longevity of machinery
2. Operational Support
- Complete job cards accurately and maintain records for vehicle/equipment usage
- Assist with ordering of spare parts and consumables
- Interpret workshop manuals and technical diagrams
3. Safety and Compliance
- Follow Health & Safety protocols to ensure a hazard-free working environment
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs
- Ensure work area is kept clean, neat, and organized at all times
4. Shift Work and Standby Duties
- Be available for standby duties and shift work as required
- Provide operational support during weekends or after-hours if needed
5. Other Responsibilities
- Carry out ad hoc tasks that support operational efficiency
- Collaborate with qualified artisans and engineers for technical development

- Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude
- Good problem-solving abilities under pressure
- Attention to detail and precision in maintenance work
- Ability to follow instructions and take initiative
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Knowledge of workshop safety and proper tool handling
