Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s License and Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Minimum 2 years’ driving experience within FMCG delivery and sales
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and communication)
- Good numeracy skills
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and standby duties
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Vehicle and Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and hygienic vehicle and driving compartment in line with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
- Use prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections using company checklists, reporting faults immediately.
- Adhere strictly to road safety rules to protect self, passengers, and other road users.
- Report vehicle thefts, damages, or accidents promptly to the Logistics Manager.
Stock and Loading Duties
- Verify that the stock loaded matches orders before departure.
- Report any discrepancies or substandard stock quality immediately.
- Assist with loading and ensure the vehicle is safely loaded to prevent road hazards.
- Keep track of crates loaded and ensure timely return of crates to the bakery.
Sales and Customer Relations
- Maintain professional, friendly, and respectful interactions with customers.
- Take orders and collect payments, often in cash, while growing sales by acquiring new customers.
- Liaise regularly with customers to ensure service levels are maintained.
- Report potential customer losses and take action to win back business.
- Promote company products and implement sales promotions on route.
Delivery Management
- Deliver products according to customer orders and manage stock levels efficiently.
- Arrange replenishment if sales exceed available stock.
- Ensure all crates and equipment are returned to the bakery after deliveries.
- Transport personnel, materials, and equipment as required.
Transactional Duties
- Safeguard cash, paperwork, and company stock using the vehicle safe.
- Complete all transactional documents accurately, including invoices, delivery notes, and cash-ups.
- Monitor for counterfeit notes and take precautions to avoid robbery attempts.
- Ensure sales volumes and cash collected match precisely at the end of each route.
Competitor and Market Awareness
- Gather information on competitor products and sales to support market intelligence.
- Report insights to assist in strategic decision-making.
General Responsibilities
- Assist in other business areas as needed, including van assistant or loader duties.
- Comply with all health and safety standards to maintain a safe working environment.
