AECI is recruiting an experienced Systems Engineer to provide first-line technical support across enterprise systems like Syspro, SAP, Cognos, and operational technology (OT) devices. If you have strong problem-solving skills, a user-focused attitude, and experience supporting business-critical systems, this is an ideal opportunity.
Purpose of the Role
The Systems Engineer will provide support, maintenance, and improvement for key business applications and technology platforms (excluding Microsoft systems). The role is pivotal in troubleshooting system issues, applying upgrades, managing service delivery, and ensuring minimal disruption to operations across AECI’s business units.
You will also collaborate with infrastructure, development, and vendor teams to resolve issues efficiently, conduct root cause analysis, and improve the overall IT service experience.

Key Responsibilities
1. Application and Systems Support
- Offer first-line support for non-Microsoft systems like Syspro, SAP, and Cognos
- Troubleshoot incidents and service requests within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Support operational technology (OT) devices, such as scanners and handhelds
- Ensure continuous availability and optimal performance of supported systems
2. Patch Management and Upgrades
- Plan and implement system patches, upgrades, and updates
- Follow change control procedures and minimize user disruption
- Communicate planned downtimes and coordinate with internal teams
3. SLA Management and Service Delivery
- Monitor ticket queues and ensure timely incident resolution
- Take proactive corrective actions to meet SLA targets
- Escalate unresolved issues appropriately and ensure consistent follow-ups
4. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain technical documentation for systems and changes
- Contribute to a shared knowledge base for recurring issues and best practices
- Document all system updates, known errors, and solutions
5. Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement
- Investigate recurring system issues and propose long-term fixes
- Participate in problem management and process improvement
- Recommend enhancements to support structures and tools
6. Vendor Coordination
- Liaise with external service providers and vendors for escalations and support
- Manage communication during outages or major service disruptions
- Evaluate vendor performance and enforce service expectations
Required Qualifications and Experience
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in enterprise system/application support
- Syspro experience is a must
- Support knowledge of SAP or Cognos is highly beneficial
- Exposure to ITIL-based environments (especially incident, problem, and change management)
- Practical experience in system upgrades, patching, and service management
Key Competencies and Technical Skills
System & Application Proficiency
- Expertise in Syspro, and solid understanding of SAP, Cognos, and OT device support
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, or similar ticketing systems
- Knowledge of networking basics, databases, and system integration
Support and Delivery
- Strong incident troubleshooting and resolution capability
- Experience with SLA tracking and performance monitoring
- Comfortable planning and executing system upgrades with minimal disruption
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), adaptable across technical and non-technical teams
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
- Effective time management and ability to juggle multiple issues simultaneously
- A proactive and service-oriented mindset
- Willingness to work collaboratively with developers, security, infrastructure, and vendors
Bonus Skills
- Scripting or automation knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and problem management
