Job Purpose and Key Functions
The primary purpose of this role is to assist the MMU (Mobile Manufacturing Unit) Controller and support all blasting-related activities, including loading, site housekeeping, and operational compliance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for both on-site and depot-based duties related to explosives management, safety, and truck operations.
1. MMU Support and Operations
- Assist the MMU Controller in operating the mobile manufacturing unit (BLEND truck)
- Conduct regular inspections on MMUs and fixed plants to ensure safety and compliance
- Participate in blasting site activities, including measuring blast holes and assisting with charging
2. Housekeeping and Safety Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness of trucks, wash bay, and truck park
- Follow all legal and site safety regulations
- Keep MMUs clean and in top condition as per World Class standards
3. Loading, Unloading, and Explosives Handling
- Load and unload packaged explosives and accessories
- Support charging up activities on the bench (blasting site)
- Assist with stemming and guarding of charged holes
- Handle hazardous products with care and precision

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for the role of Operations Assistant, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
- Code B Driver’s Licence – required
- Must be able to obtain a red ticket health clearance (mandatory for mine workers)
- Basic understanding of safe working practices and hazardous product handling
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions on site
Experience in working with MMUs, explosives, or blast preparation will be a significant advantage.
