Position Overview
An exciting opportunity is available at PathCare’s Tokai branch in Cape Town for a qualified Laboratory Assistant to join the Clinical Pathology team. You will be responsible for receiving and preparing specimens, managing turnaround times, processing shipping batches, and resolving queries—all within a people-focused, quality-driven workplace.
Key Responsibilities

Receive and prepare specimens for analysis

Maintain acceptable turnaround times (TAT) by managing timely distribution
-
Prepare samples for further testing or referral to reference labs
-
Handle internal and external queries related to results and specimen status
-
Manage on-hold and incomplete reports lists efficiently
-
Capture telephonic results as required

Ship specimens using Meditech batch systems
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following:

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Registered with the HPCSA as a qualified Laboratory Assistant (Clinical Pathology)

Computer literate (experience with Meditech is advantageous)
-
Proven experience in a busy specimen reception or lab support environment
-
Ability to manage queries and administrative follow-ups professionally
-
Must be fluent in English with an understanding of Afrikaans
-
Prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
-
A strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and high attention to detail
-
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with accuracy and initiative
-
Must have a clean performance and disciplinary record
