Role Overview

As a Junior Technical Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end process of sourcing, quoting, and supplying a wide range of products to industrial clients, including heavy-duty Caterpillar parts, general hardware, tools, and even unique custom items such as bicycles and bulk cable ties. This position requires a hands-on, self-motivated individual who thrives on taking ownership of their work and seeing tasks through from initiation to delivery.

You must be detail-oriented, resilient, and confident in dealing with diverse suppliers and clients. This is a role that demands initiative and accountability, supported by a team environment that values grit, responsibility, and humour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle product sourcing from both local and international suppliers

  • Receive detailed product requirements from clients and prepare accurate quotations

  • Coordinate the procurement process from quote acceptance to final delivery

  • Ensure product delivery is timely, within budget, and meets client specifications

  • Maintain accurate records of quotations, supplier information, and client interactions

  • Engage in proactive supplier outreach to source alternative products when necessary

  • Work closely with the logistics team to plan efficient transportation of goods

  • Maintain and grow supplier relationships to improve lead times and pricing

  • Understand and manage technical product details, ensuring accuracy in specifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Logistics, Business, or related fields is advantageous

  • At least 1 year of experience in a sales or technical procurement environment

  • Strong command of English (both verbal and written communication)

  • Experience with industrial or technical products is highly beneficial

  • Excellent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and order management systems

  • Must be sales-oriented, creative in sourcing, and capable of thinking beyond conventional methods

  • Ability to work in an informal but fast-paced office setting
