Role Overview
The Freight Controller will be responsible for overseeing and executing daily import and export operations, including customs clearing, freight bookings, tracking, and client communication. You’ll manage the movement of goods via air, sea, and road, ensuring that all shipments are accurately documented and delivered efficiently. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently under pressure, and a firm grasp of international and domestic freight operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage freight forwarding processes across air, sea, and road transport

Coordinate international and domestic collections and deliveries

Track shipments and provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders

Arrange and manage all relevant customs clearing documentation

Handle invoicing and estimates accurately and in a timely manner

Monitor and control freight movements to avoid delays and miscommunications

Communicate with service providers, customs officials, and internal teams

Work closely with clients to resolve shipping issues and provide proactive solutions

Ensure all freight activities are compliant with national and international regulations
Qualifications and Experience

Matric Certificate – essential
-
1 to 2 years’ experience in the logistics or freight forwarding industry

Experience in handling either air, sea, or road freight operations

Knowledge of customs procedures and relevant documentation

Fully computer literate in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Understanding of freight tracking and documentation software is a strong advantage

Valid driver’s licence and access to own reliable transport
