ROLE OVERVIEW
The Sales Consultant role at Leroy Merlin Fourways is a dynamic and customer-facing position. The successful candidates will be responsible for understanding customer needs, providing tailored product and service recommendations, and ensuring an excellent sales experience from start to finish. This contract role is suited for energetic salespeople who thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoy building lasting customer relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engage with customers to assess and understand their gardening and landscaping needs

Recommend appropriate products and services based on customer requirements, including quality, convenience, and price

Explain product features, benefits, and available services such as delivery and installation

Build and maintain strong customer relationships through attentive and professional service

Apply sales techniques to meet and exceed sales targets

Identify and pursue new business opportunities by understanding market trends and customer preferences

Follow up on sales leads to maximize conversion rates

Collaborate with Department Managers and merchandisers to ensure product availability and meet customer demand

Maintain a well-organized, clean, and visually appealing store layout in line with merchandising standards

Participate actively in department commercial action plans and promotional campaigns

Assist customers throughout the sales process — before, during, and after their purchase

Ensure the sales floor is fully stocked and assist with inventory management

Use multiple communication channels such as emails, WhatsApp, and phone calls to support sales efforts
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Matric (Grade 12) or NQF Level 4 equivalent – required

Proven experience as a sales consultant; hardware or gardening retail experience advantageous

Strong passion for customer service and sales

Friendly, confident, and engaging personality

Good problem-solving skills with an ability to handle customer inquiries effectively

Understanding of pricing strategies and sales methodologies

Excellent command of English, both spoken and written

Proactive, curious, and able to take initiative

Ability to manage a customer portfolio throughout all sales stages
