As part of its expansion, Ecowize is recruiting two Hygiene Operators to join its operational team in Olifantsfontein, Johannesburg East Rand.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Hygiene Operator role is essential to ensuring a food-safe site in compliance with Ecowize standards and regulatory food safety protocols. Reporting to the Site Manager, Hygiene Operators are responsible for executing the full 10-step cleaning process daily. This includes performing Clean-In-Place (CIP) procedures, deep cleaning duties, and maintaining hygiene across all operational areas of the plant.
This is a physically demanding, shift-based role that requires attention to detail, commitment to safety standards, and a customer-centric mindset. The successful candidates will be trained in the Ecowize 10-step system and must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and rotating shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform daily cleaning tasks following the 10-step cleaning process as prescribed by Ecowize

Ensure that all cleaning activities are executed in line with food safety and hygiene regulations

Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment in all operational zones of the facility

Complete Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Deep Cleaning procedures across designated areas

Accurately follow work instructions and cleaning schedules

Perform chemical stock control, including correct usage and safe storage of cleaning materials

Collaborate with the site team to deliver hygiene services that meet and exceed customer expectations

Maintain professional conduct and excellent communication with both team members and clients

Report anomalies, damaged equipment, or safety risks immediately to supervisors

Demonstrate commitment to company culture, safety standards, and client satisfaction
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Matric (Grade 12) – compulsory
-
Deep cleaning experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment – essential

Experience with dry plant cleaning – advantageous
-
Chemical stock handling experience – required

Strong understanding of hygiene procedures and ability to follow detailed work instructions

Experience working in a shift-based or night shift environment – beneficial

Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts
