Role Overview
Brights Hardware in Plattekloof is seeking a reliable and customer-oriented General Assistant to join the Drive Thru Yard Department. The primary purpose of this role is to provide exceptional customer service to both external and internal customers, ensuring that loading, tidiness, and stock handling in the yard are carried out efficiently. This position plays a vital role in creating a positive customer experience, preventing stock losses, and supporting the smooth operation of the yard.
Key Responsibilities
Prompt and accurate loading of customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks
Ensure all stock is properly stacked, stored, and accurately counted
Assist with pulling and preparing stock for transfers to other branches
Report any stock shortages or discrepancies to management
Report and document any stock breakages or damages
Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping standards within the Drive Thru Yard
Provide customers with professional, friendly service and basic product knowledge assistance
Bag stone, sand, and other loose items as required
Participate actively in perpetual stocktakes to maintain accurate stock records
Perform general yard duties and any other work-related tasks delegated by a superior
Requirements
Matric certificate or equivalent
At least 1 year of experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential)
Ability to provide excellent customer service at all times
Basic numerical skills with the ability to count stock accurately
Physically fit and able to perform manual labour tasks, including lifting and loading
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Disciplined, self-motivated, and reliable
Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure
Good verbal communication skills
Stamina and physical endurance required for a demanding yard environment
