Role Overview
Brights Hardware is seeking an experienced Divisional Manager to oversee operations within the Building, Drive Thru Yard, Frontline, and Admin divisions at their Plattekloof branch. This strategic leadership role is responsible for driving sales growth, improving operational efficiency, ensuring customer satisfaction, and managing a high-performing team.
The ideal candidate will have strong retail and leadership experience, excellent business acumen, and a proven ability to grow revenue while maintaining high standards of service and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve a minimum of 10% sales growth per month
Oversee business operations within assigned divisions to meet company objectives
Monitor and evaluate division performance, recommending and implementing improvement strategies
Ensure customer and team member queries are resolved professionally and timeously
Manage resources, delegate tasks, and oversee schedules to ensure operational efficiency and timely deliveries
Lead recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, retention, and, where necessary, termination of staff
Identify skills gaps and implement effective training and development initiatives
Develop, implement, and enforce best practices and standard operating procedures to drive efficiency
Adjust staffing levels as needed to maintain productivity and service standards
Implement cost-reduction initiatives while upholding quality and productivity standards
Identify areas of concern and opportunity, developing and executing effective action plans
Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly SWOT reports
Oversee the opening and closing of the retail store as required
Reduce dormant stock levels within the division
Ensure efficient stock management and control within all relevant departments
Requirements
Matric or equivalent qualification
Business Management qualification or currently studying towards one
Minimum of 5 years managerial experience in a retail environment
At least 10 years’ experience in the hardware retail sector
Proven ability to initiate and chair disciplinary inquiries (advantageous)
Experience with talent acquisition, staff development, and performance management
Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organisation
Excellent planning, time management, and organisational skills
Strong monitoring, evaluation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Thorough understanding of relevant retail and labour legislation
Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and team leadership skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, email, and internet applications
