Role Overview
Cashbuild is looking for a reliable and hardworking General Assistant to join the Oudtshoorn branch. This role is focused on providing excellent customer service, ensuring stock is properly merchandised, and maintaining housekeeping standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the store operates efficiently, safely, and according to company standards. This vacancy is strictly open to external applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
Advise and assist customers by providing information on the correct products and resolving queries
Assist with resolving customer complaints in a professional and timely manner
Ensure customers have a positive shopping experience
Merchandising Standards
Merchandise bulk stock safely and according to the store layout plan
Ensure designated areas are fully merchandised according to planograms
Correct shelf price labelling in all areas of responsibility
Restock shelves promptly to avoid stock gaps and maintain product availability
Housekeeping
Maintain a clean and obstacle-free work area at all times
Ensure stock is merchandised immediately after receipt
Keep aisles clear to allow customers to move around the store safely
Complete checklists for canteen, toilets, and showers as required
Safety Compliance
Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements
Use appropriate safety gear as required
Ensure that racking and bulk stock areas are merchandised safely to prevent risk to customers and colleagues
Report any safety concerns or discrepancies to the Store Manager immediately
Stock Loss Management
Report damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager promptly
Assist in preventing stock losses through proper merchandising and monitoring
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience
Alternatively, Grade 12 without work experience
Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in Oudtshoorn
Valid South African ID or work permit
Basic numerical skills with the ability to perform accurate calculations
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
