Role Overview
Cashbuild is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier for its Oudtshoorn branch. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about delivering excellent service and have the ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently. The Cashier is responsible for ensuring all Point of Sale (POS) transactions are processed correctly, safeguarding company assets, and contributing to an outstanding customer experience.
The position is strictly open to external applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
Accurately handle all cash transactions, including floats and petty cash, ensuring no shortages or overages
Correctly identify and capture goods on the POS system
Capture the appropriate payment type received from customers
Maintain sufficient change at all times
Process pick-ups accurately and within company parameters
Perform accurate cash-ups at the end of each shift
Ensure all daily takings are securely dropped into the drop safe or vault
Accurately process transactions relating to other stores, deliveries, and quotations
Administrative Duties
Compile, sign, and file all documentation related to the cashier function
Ensure all records are orderly, complete, and compliant with company policies
Customer Service
Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers
Assist customers with inquiries and direct them to the relevant department or staff member
Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the company dress code
Store Readiness and Safety
Follow the Ready for Business and Beyond My Control processes as per the Cashbuild Way
Ensure compliance with all safety requirements in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
Report any discrepancies or safety concerns to the Store Manager
Security Awareness
Maintain strict control of POS system access and passwords
Ensure all cash is safely secured and transported to the cash office as per company requirements
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12 or equivalent
Minimum of one year work-related experience, preferably in retail or cashiering
Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in Oudtshoorn
Strong numerical skills with the ability to perform accurate calculations
Administrative skills with attention to detail
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Ability to work well under pressure
